Why do good people do bad things?

The recent events in Boston have me thinking this question over. Apparently suspect number two was thought of as a typical guy. Most people in his social circle thought heat was a good person.

How do people like him turn evil? What do you think about it?

  1. I guess the first step is in understanding what motivates a person to do evil, no matter how messed-up those motives may be...

    1. You're absolutely right on that JeriWB. Motivation has deep roots! I may write on this topic in depth at some point. Thanks for commenting :)

  2. I highly doubt these guys acted alone. Read some political bloggers. I don't really want to become a political bloggers, so I'll leave my comment at that.

  3. That was my first thought too Leora. I just wonder how someone wakes up one day and decides to take the leap over to the "dark side."

  4. I have no idea why people do the things they do sometimes. Sometimes it seems as though they just think hey why not.

  6. I think it's always a combination of things. Plus, I feel there's usually some hidden dissatisfaction or motivation that leads them to say "screw it" and follow their basest/wrong-headed instincts.
